1st grade has been studying wants/needs and goods/services. so at the end of the study they had a kidz biz day. each kid came up with a business. they could either provide a service or sell a good. they had to come up with prices and had to make their own business signs. peyton decided to paint peoples fingernails. i tried to encourage her to do something that would bring in more people and more money....but she wouldn't budge.
all of first grade was involved with this. they took turns opening and closing their store and everyone had a chance to go around and buy what they wanted. in the weeks leading up to this, the kids were able to earn money by obeying...listening....following the rules. if you got in trouble you were asked to give back some of the money. it was a really neat idea. peyton loved it. another cool thing about it was that all of the support staff at the school came in and shopped. everyone had such a good time :)
